Twitter for Micro-blogging

Hello gang

Happy Friday!  Hopefully by now you have all opened a Twitter account and you've had an opportunity to explore this unique tool which we also refer to as micro-blogging.  In my experience, it seems that people either love or hate Twitter.  It is a unique tool that may not feel entirely intuitive.  On a personal note, I believe that this tool is only as helpful as our ability to select relevant organizations and/or people to follow.  Being completely utilitarian, I prefer to follow those organizations that will provide me relevant and useful information.  Since I am very busy, I don't have too much time for celebrity updates and the like.   Think about what is the information that is useful to you and what organizations you are very loyal to.  Being selective about who you choose to follow will help you to make the most of this tool, especially as you begin to get familiar with it.

Well, as hopefully you’ve noticed I have been trying to familiarize you with some useful blogs.  Here is another one with a nice article on Twitter.  Please read the following:

http://blog.hubspot.com/blog/tabid/6307/bid/4034/How-to-Use-Twitter-for-Marketing-PR.aspx

Notice the amount of comments after the article… I encourage you to join the conversation!

Lastly, I want to remind you that you don’t have to follow all of your classmates on Twitter.  But please DO follow me!  My Twitter name is UCRXSocialMedia my link is

Have a great weekend!

Hi Jeannette,

I have decided to follow more than 5 people/organizations:
http://twitter.com/#!/Supreme_NYC
http://twitter.com/#!/visvim_plus
http://twitter.com/#!/nikestore
http://twitter.com/#!/UNIQLO_JP
http://twitter.com/#!/fatale_honeyee
http://twitter.com/#!/Kiyonaga_SOPH
http://twitter.com/#!/honeyee_com

Now I am planning to build my clothing brand, so these URL noted above are related to clothing.

I'm gonna follow them to ask and catch a general trend and a niche trend to build my brand.

Those information and Tweets may be able to help me to create innovative and cool clothing I think.

Again, that is why I have decided to follow these Tweets.

Thanks,

Have a great weekend, Jeannette!

Hi Jeannette,

I read the article called "How to ude Twitter for marketing & PR".

It was really interesting, I really enjoyed the "Engage your CEO in social media" part because I think it's essential for a CEO to have good communication tools to communicate with his employees. The communication with employee is also good for the image of the company.

I also thought that doing the promotion of an event/product on facebook for retailers/event planner is a pretty good idea.

At last, I just wanted to notice you that we can't comment the article http://blog.hubspot.com/blog/tabid/6307/bid/4034/How-to-Use-Twitter-for-Marketing-PR.aspx anymore because the comments on the subject have been closed.

See you on Wednesday!

Tim

Hi Jeannette,

I used Twitter since few weeks only.
I decided to follow:
*two daily newspapers - the NY Times (America's most popular online newspaper) and LeMonde (daily French newspaper)I think It is essential to be aware of what 's happening around the world before building our own brand.
*Krista Canfield (Senior Manager at LinkedIn) and
*David Meerman Scott (marketing strategist). It may be interesting to follow these professionals because I can learn how to communicate in a professional manner using social media as a marketing platform as they do.
* the world's most famous company: Coca Cola. I think it is very helpful to be connected with them to learn how they interact with their customers and to know their last news, or advertises.

Thank you
Gwen

Hi Jeannette,

I read all the article on the link you gave, it was really enriching.

As a manager or even a CEO,it's really important to entertain a good communication between employee and employers. Using twitter as a communication tool in a company is clever, it even seems to me essential.

Twitter offers a communication tool that is free, easy and efficient.

For my part on twitter I am following especially newscompany because I want to include international relations in my marketing/management formation. That's also why I'm taking Global issues study.
The other things I follow on twitter is the things I follow as a hobbie, like the news on TV-shows I watch, on movies or even music bands.

Twitter is a both professional and personal tool that you can use easily and fastly.

It is as strong that it also helped revolutions spread during the Arab spring.

Hey Jeannette,
I decided to follow on Twitter, a Mixed Martial Arts channel, to show that I am a fighter and therefore that I never give up, and always try my best to succeed. I believe that it en-lights the spirit and philosophy I stick to : " I came, I saw, I conquered everything in sight ".

To demonstrate that I am instructed as well as to show my political orientations without showing off too much about it, I started to follow Le Figaro, it is a very well-known french newspaper recognized to be a right wing party newspaper.

Among public figures I also wished to follow my friend Timothée because, he's got a good network, and kind of the same mentality than me, so I believe that we can team up to be more efficient to broad our brand.

Finally I decided to follow Bill Gates and Steve Jobs as in my opinion they are/were the bests businessmen the world might have ever known on the field of new technologies. These guys are geniuses, the were always on top of the edge, to become top leaders in their field, be recognized worldwide as icons. On top of that, they are/were great persons, I mean Bill Gates makes massive donations to his foundation as well as Steve Jobs used to do it. They never forgot where they came from, that among all the money they might have made, they're still human as anyone else on earth, especially after last week breaking news.

I think that Twitter is really good as a marketing tool, especially for events, or companies that need to make announcements quickly.
I especially use it to keep track of the news from the companies and topics I like. I prefer reading short information rather than a huge article, which is why I follow newspapers I want to read :)
